The Huixian Earthquake Engineering Foundation (China) and the US-China Earthquake Engineering Foundation (USA) were both established in 2002 in honor of Prof. LIU Huixian, the founding director of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics of the China Earthquake Administration, widely recognized to be “the father of earthquake engineering in China”. The objectives of both foundations are to encourage research and education activities in the broad area of earthquake engineering through cooperative efforts between individuals and groups in the academic and research communities of both countries.
